Stephanie Earthman Baird enjoys sharing her extensive wine knowledge and passion for teaching with audiences around the world. She is the owner of Journey Into Wine, a wine consulting business specializing in wine education, travel and events.
Baird began her own journey into wine in the early 1990s, while travelling the globe in her professional position with ExxonMobil. She left the corporate world in 2002, when she decided to turn her passion for wine into a full-time endeavor. At that time, she and her husband, David, started a wine import and distribution company in Houston, Texas; they sold the company in 2014.
Over the years, Baird elevated her knowledge of wine by earning 13 wine certifications, including Advanced Sommelier, Certified Wine Educator, and California Wine Appellation Specialist. She was recently awarded her Diploma from the Wine & Spirits Education Trust (WSET) in London, while also being designated a Certified Educator for WSET. She is now pursuing her Master of Wine, the highest accreditation a wine professional can earn. Baird is a senior instructor at the Texas Wine School, where she helps professionals earn their certifications, but enjoys teaching consumer enthusiasts as well.
As a professional wine judge, Baird frequently participates in prestigious wine competitions across the U.S., and is a founder and past General Chairman of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s International Wine Competition.
Her accomplishments in wine and local fund raising have been recognized by Cowboys and Indians, Houston Business Journal, Houston Chronicle, Houston Press, Culture Map and The Leader. She was also honored to participate in a 2012 Houston Business Journal panel as a top ten business owner in “Powerful Women: A Strategic Forum for Women Business Owners.”
Baird enjoys assisting novices and wine aficionados alike in their own journey into wine.
